About The Position

Sanitary Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a full‑time, year‑round Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the Hermiston Transfer Station. We are looking for a safety‑driven operator with strong experience in front‑end loaders, excavators, and yard truck/trailer operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient transfer station operations while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1+ year of directly related heavy equipment experience, including loaders, excavators, and yard truck/trailer operation.
Basic computer proficiency.
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.
Work environment includes exposure to physical hazards; adherence to safety procedures is mandatory.
Must be able to operate heavy equipment in varying weather and site conditions.
Requires basic computer skills for daily tasks and reporting.
Must understand and follow safety procedures, equipment maintenance practices, and vehicle inspection standards.

Nice To Haves

Assist with compactor operations (preferred experience but not required).

Responsibilities

Operate Front End Loaders, Excavators, and Yard Trucks/Trailers efficiently and safely.
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment, including checking oil, water, and tire pressure.
Maintain proper care, cleanliness, and functionality of all assigned equipment and tools.
Support continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Assist with compactor operations (preferred experience but not required).
Complete additional duties assigned to support daily transfer station operations.
