About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team! In this role you will get to operates heavy and light equipment to repair, maintain, and reconfigure roadways, stockpiles, and berms including loading and unloading of rock and soil. As well, as providing snow clearing services where required. Local Candidates Preferred but open to candidates on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis. What You'll Be Doing: Working 3 week shifts at a remote, site in the Yukon. Travel to/from Whitehorse/Home and from Whitehorse to/from the job site will be paid by Parsons. Safe operation of various pieces of heavy equipment including CAT 966, CAT 420, excavator, grader, steam truck and other utility vehicles. Work closely with the field crew in all requirement heavy equipment work around site while promoting and complying site safety procedures and policies. Ensure safe work operations of the and full compliance to operating procedures. Receive direction for the day-to-day operations work schedule. Do pre-& post inspection check-up of the equipment and write/keep equipment log. Responsible for and/or assists in fueling and filling all the fluids in the equipment to the right level. Assists in maintenance work of the equipment. Maintain tidiness in the equipment. Prepare and submit the necessary required daily reports as directed. Perform other functions as maybe directed from time to time by the Maintenance Superintendent. What Required Skills You'll Bring: At least 5 years’ operational experience in operating CAT surface mining, construction heavy equipment. Physically fit to do manual labour and heavy lifting Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license Class 1 or 3 license with air brake endorsement is an asset Must be able to effectively follow and give directions. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work a variety of shifts. Must be comfortable working both in various elemental conditions including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc. Ability to lift to 20 kg Possessing a valid Mine Rescue Certificate (surface) compatible with Yukon OHS Mine Rescue Standard (OHS, 2016) and approved by Yukon WCB, or willingness and ability to undergo training to obtain such. Requirements
