About The Position

Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. An employee in this position operates heavy equipment, primarily a motor grader and performs manual labor to repair and maintain trunkline, primary/local roads, and right-of-way. Requirements

  • Two years of heavy equipment experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions (excluding "K") and an "N" (tank) endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a motor grader and other heavy equipment for road maintenance and construction.
  • Performs grading, shaping, and finishing of road surfaces.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during winter operations.
  • Conducts routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Works collaboratively with crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
