About The Position

Join Laurens County in a vital role dedicated to the upkeep and safety of our local infrastructure. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be the backbone of our Rural Collections team, ensuring county facilities, roads, and rights-of-way remain in top condition for our community. Requirements

• Experience: 2 to 5 years of similar experience, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship/internship, demonstrating a deep understanding of heavy equipment duties
• Education: A High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Skill Highlight: Proficiency in basic mathematics, the ability to read and write technical instructions, and the physical capacity to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must possess, or have the ability to readily obtain, a valid South Carolina Class A CDL with air brakes

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with landscaping, general maintenance, or construction is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Operation: Expertly operate and maintain a diverse range of heavy equipment to support county infrastructure projects.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Execute maintenance tasks for county facilities, roads, and rights-of-way under varying conditions.
• Technical Support: Utilize small engines and hand tools to perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Operational Planning: Adapt to changing work environments by planning and performing maintenance duties effectively.
• Community Service: Provide professional oral and written communication while delivering high-quality service to the public
