About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator will support Aptim Federal Services Cemetery at Fort Benning by operating heavy equipment such as: Mini- Excavators and Farm Tractors with attachments. The Operator will be expected to use equipment to excavate, load, move dirt or other material in preparation for burial services. The operator must be able to maneuver efficiently and safely through tight areas within the Cemetery. Aside from equipment operation, this position will require daily duties of maintaining the cemetery grounds to include mowing of the lawn, weed eating, headstone maintenance and installation, weed control, vermin control, sod installation, wall maintenance, landscaping, driveway maintenance, grounds maintenance, and any other duties as assigned. Applicants should display in-depth knowledge of work processes and grounds maintenance tools to properly support the Cemetery.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience being a Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Meet requirements for: pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check, and MVR check (MVR points are subject to company policy)

Responsibilities

  • Daily time entry.
  • Operation of heavy equipment.
  • Daily Maintenance of the Cemetery Grounds.
  • Ensure equipment is in the best working condition by conducting daily inspections, equipment greasing, minor repairs, and cleaning equipment daily.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with visiting families as needed.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Work overtime as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Interact with employees and others in the workplace in an appropriate manner.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor assigned activities.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
