About The Position

The HEO is responsible for safely and efficiently operating, maintaining, running, cleaning, and basic servicing of small tractors, Bobcats, lifts, etc. The HEO must also operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, farm implements and vehicles including grapple-loaders, skip loaders, forklift, semi-trucks, and other like equipment as needed to move, load, unload, shift, remove plants from trucks, trailers, boxes, pallets, etc. In this role, the HEO is responsible for running daily start up and shut down protocols, following and maintaining all safety procedures, monitoring gauges, and adjusting settings to prevent equipment strain, observing external exceptions, fuel and fluid levels, and the overall integrity and safe operations on farm and assigned equipment.

Requirements

  • CDL A is Required
  • 2+ years of experience with tractors, bobcats, and like heavy equipment/farm implements
  • Experience with construction and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to plan, delegate and prioritize to complete specific tasks and meet inflexible deadlines.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem solving.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a MVN Operator Certification.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and ideally speak Spanish.
  • Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Good follow-through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
  • Ability to adhere to MVN policies, including safety standards, without taking inappropriate risks.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, and perform repeated lifting and pulling of objects and tools in variable work environments (see below).
  • High school or equivalent
  • Some travel required - Must have valid driver’s license and show proof of a satisfactory driving record, clean drug screen and DOT certification of fitness.
  • CDL is required.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all safety and equipment guidelines are strictly followed and adhered to.
  • Operating small tractors, Bobcats, lifts, and/or any ancillary equipment utilized in the farm/nursery operations.
  • Ensuring proper equipment setup, lubrication, cleanliness, adjustments, safety checks, clearances, implement attachments, fluids, etc., to maximize daily production.
  • Monitoring safety, security, cleanliness, and organization of his/her operating areas.
  • Performing all duties adhering to company safety procedures and policies.
  • Avoiding misuse, improper use or malfunctions and diagnosing and correcting issues as needed.
  • Enforcing MVN policies and procedures and assuring safe and efficient work procedures are followed.
  • Identifies and solves routine problems and issues on a daily basis, and reports exceptions as needed.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues, performing equipment maintenance and ordering parts and supplies.
  • Assuring 100% PPE compliance of anyone in the equipment's Operational area.
