Maintains equipment on a scheduled basis; maintains maintenance records. Grades ditches, elevations, drainage channels, sets culverts and finishes concrete work. Performs shop duties as needed. Assists with construction projects. Supervises a work crew on a project basis. Assists other employees with their duties; performs work of lower level positions as necessary. Held accountable for all equipment used and uniforms issued. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years job related experience as an Equipment Operator
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License
  • Herbicide and Insecticide Certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Good driving skills and thorough knowledge of and ability to operate required heavy equipment
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions and complete assignment in a timely fashion
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees
