As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge. This is a travel position for a project located outside of Barstow, CA. Compensation ranges from $26.78-33.48/hr, or prevailing wage in certain locations if working on the project. The schedule is typically 6 days per week, 10-12 hours per day. Per diem includes hotel + $50 for food. Crews may travel one week at a time, occasionally extended stays up to two weeks before returning home for a break. Overtime pay will be provided in accordance with California labor laws, at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours worked over 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a workweek. Rest and Meal Breaks: You will be compensated for paid rest periods and granted unpaid meal breaks in accordance with California labor laws.

  • MOS Codes 12N, 12V, 21E, and 21J relate well to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate light construction equipment, including backhoes, cable plow, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers & other types of machinery & assure maintenance of these as required.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
  • Read and understand utility locates and above ground utility indicators to ensure the safety of the crew and a high level of productivity.
