About The Position

The City of Greensboro is recruiting for a Heavy Equipment Operator - Solid Waste Transfer Station. As a Heavy Equipment Operator at the City's Transfer Station, you'll be on the front line of managing waste flow and keeping our city running efficiently. Requirements

• High School diploma/GED, with 1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as a backhoe, front-end loader, excavator, or skid steer.
• No High School diploma/GED, requires at least 3 years of High School education plus 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as a backhoe, front-end loader, excavator, or skid steer.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Commercial Driver's License ('OR' the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire).

Nice To Haves

• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
• Experience in landfill or transfer station environment.

Responsibilities

• Operating equipment such as skid steers, rubber-tired front-end loaders, tandem dump trucks, water trucks, rubber-tired excavators, and tampers.
• Ensuring safe and effective handling of waste material on site.
• Assisting mechanics with basic maintenance and repairs of equipment when necessary.
• Following all safety procedures and verbal/written instructions from supervisors.
• Performing physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working on uneven terrain.
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
