About The Position

The position involves operating mobile heavy equipment, including forklifts and various types of heavy machinery, throughout the depot. Responsibilities include driving a semi and a Yard Dog to deliver parts, relocating trailers, loading and unloading trucks, and ensuring that vehicles are in good working order. Operators will also collect delivery instructions, maintain logs, report vehicle issues, secure cargo, and transport goods while complying with state regulations. The role requires maneuvering heavy equipment across various terrains and assisting in making connections for towing. The work environment is typical of a warehouse, with physical demands including frequent lifting and the need for mental alertness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience as an Equipment Operator or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
  • Must have and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Ability to understand and use Technical Manuals.
  • Ability to complete vehicle maintenance paperwork.
  • Ability to manipulate hand tools and hydraulic equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and government background check.
  • Must be available for any shift and willing to work weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with military or heavy combat vehicles.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate forklifts up to 70k.
  • Operate several types of heavy equipment throughout the depot.
  • Drive a semi and a Yard Dog to deliver parts.
  • Pick up and relocate trailers to designated areas.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Check vehicles for mechanical and safety compliance.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions and routes.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, and traffic violations.
  • Secure cargo for transport.
  • Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods.
  • Inventory and inspect goods to be moved.
  • Operate various heavy equipment including MRS wheel tractors and caterpillars.
  • Assist in making cable or tow bar connections.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
