About The Position

Responsible for operating heavy equipment and vehicles in the maintenance and repair of streets and alleys. The position involves various tasks including operating a 12-yard dump truck, identifying equipment needs for projects, transporting materials between job sites, and operating specialized equipment for pavement maintenance. The role also includes addressing citizen concerns on-site, attending monthly safety meetings, inspecting job project safety, and maintaining the safe operation of heavy equipment. The incumbent will perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and ensure that all safety equipment is utilized daily. Additionally, the position requires operating heavy equipment during foul weather incidents and training on specialized equipment in the absence of the Heavy Equipment Crew Leader.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• 2+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

• 1+ years of experience training on/operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate 12-yard dump truck.
• Identify equipment needs for each assigned project.
• Transport materials between job sites.
• Operate specialized pieces of equipment to level lift various types of pavements.
• Patch various types of pavements with hot and cold asphalt.
• Crack seal various types of pavements with a hot tar sealant.
• Grade unimproved alleys.
• Address citizen concerns on the job site.
• Attend safety meetings on a monthly basis.
• Inspect the overall safety of various job projects.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment.
• Ensure all safety equipment is being utilized on a daily basis.
• Inspect and maintain assigned equipment.
• Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated.
• Keep work location and vehicle(s) in order.
• Operate heavy equipment in clearing of streets and/or alleys during foul weather incidents.
• Operate/train on specialized pieces of heavy equipment in the absence of Heavy Equipment Crew Leader.

Benefits

• Pay Range: $20.72 - $23.29 (Depending on qualifications and experience).
