About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator I (HEO) position is a part-time role focused on the skilled operation of various Public Works equipment. The operator is responsible for driving and maintaining heavy machinery, performing manual labor when necessary, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment under general supervision. This role requires a valid Florida Commercial Drivers License Class B and involves working in various outdoor conditions.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in operating varied heavy equipment in road work.
• Valid Florida Commercial Drivers License Class B.
• Minimum 8th grade education, preferably a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Operate large trucks with dual rear axle, truck tractor-trailer, front-end loader, and other construction equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and adjustments to assigned equipment.
• Collect solid waste using compactor garbage boom axle truck or roll-off truck.
• Perform manual labor associated with equipment usage as needed.
• Follow assignments and priorities set by a higher-level employee.
