About The Position

This position is with the Roads & Grounds Department of the Georgia Garrison Training Center (GGTC) located on Fort Stewart. The role involves operating various types of heavy equipment and vehicles, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining grounds and facilities to specified standards. The job entails exposure to varying weather conditions and requires physical capabilities such as lifting and walking on uneven terrain.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in the operation of heavy equipment and large vehicles such as bulldozers, frontend loaders, ditchers, road graders, dump trucks, drilling equipment and heavy duty trucks or position equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Georgia's Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within 6-months of being hired.
• Responsible for reading and understanding safety maintenance manuals in order to apply guidelines within specifications of this position.

Responsibilities

• Operates various types of heavy equipment and vehicles such as a motor grader, backhoe, dump trucks, cranes, bulldozers, packers, front end loaders, Bobcat and high pressure sprayers.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and maintains all tools, supplies and equipment in a secure, clean and orderly manner.
• Maintains and grades parking lots, motor pools, driveways, tank trails, roadway shoulders, level fill material, dress and/or cut grounds to specific or set grade elevations.
• Sets and establishes grades with the use of a level, cleans drainage structures, installs storm drain pipe, sets inlet and interference box structures, loads and transports materials, sprays herbicides, prunes trees, mows grass, removes debris and provides other grounds maintenance.
