About The Position

The position involves operating various types of power construction equipment, including motor-graders, bulldozers, rubber tire backhoes, trackhoes, rollers, articulated dump trucks, front-end loaders, and hydraulic excavators. The primary responsibilities include excavating, moving, and grading earth, erecting structures, and pouring concrete, asphalt, or other hard surface pavement on road beds, parking lots, airport runways, and taxiways. The role may also require performing minor repairs and maintaining equipment.

Requirements

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 2 years operating experience on dozer, excavator, or rollers.
• Good work ethic and dependability.
• Ability to work various hours as needed.
• Willingness to work out of town if needed.
• GPS experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, power cranes, shovels, or related equipment.
• Start machine, engage clutch, and push and move levers, switches, and pedals to guide machine along forms or guidelines.
• Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks.
• Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, or steel-reinforce stone, concrete, or asphalt on job sites.
• Operate tamping machines or manually roll surfaces to compact earth fills and finished road materials.
• Observe grade to adjust machine settings and indicate low spots for material addition.
• Conduct documented pre-shift inspections of equipment for safety and mechanical defects.
• Work long, flexible hours including nights and weekends, and outdoors in all seasons.
• Align machines with reference stakes and guidelines or position equipment following hand signals.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, responding to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment using mechanics' hand tools.
• Learn and follow safety regulations and take actions to avoid potential hazards.
• Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as required or directed by supervisors.
