SUMMARY We have an immediate, Full-Time opening for a CDL B (or A) Boom Driver who has heavy hydraulic equipment experience specifically boom operator who would like to build a career serving our customers in the finger lakes and southern tier region from our branch location in Elmira, NY. Requirements

  • Strong work history and a clean CDL B (minimum)
  • Experienced ability to safely perform local commercial deliveries
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to move or lift up to 100 lbs., frequently
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, work orders/invoices, logs, manuals, etc.
  • Maintains necessary certifications and credentials
  • Successful completion of: pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and MVR driving review.
  • All applicants must submit to a pre-employment DOT drug screening and DOT physical. Any offer of employment will be conditional on passing these exams. In addition, all those hired will be subject to additional drug testing as outlined by The Erie Materials, Inc. Drug-free Workplace Policy.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Class A or Class B New York State Commercial Drivers License.
  • Hazardous Materials endorsement; will be required to obtain.
  • Air Brakes endorsement.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and/or Moffett experience preferred; remote control boom experience is a plus!
  • We value over the road travel (OTR) experience, however, this position does not currently require over-the-road deliveries.
  • We value drop and hook experience, however, this position does not currently require drop-and-hook deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Safely load, secure and unload materials
  • Safely perform local commercial deliveries
  • Read and interpret documents, work orders/invoices, logs, manuals, etc.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain necessary certifications and credentials
  • Loading materials onto a delivery vehicle with the assistance of other personnel and mechanical devices including forklifts. Driver must frequently load his/her vehicle alone.
  • Driving delivery vehicle to a customer jobsite. Unloading materials at the jobsite, in most circumstances, unassisted. Materials must be covered so they are protected from any inclement weather.
  • When not delivering materials, driver will work at various tasks in the warehouse including but not limited to: stocking/organizing inventory, servicing walk-in customers, receiving materials from manufacturers, cleaning, etc.
