As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for testing mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications. You will operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects and determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices. Your role will also involve cleaning, lubricating, and performing routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles, examining parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges, and scheduling maintenance for industrial machines and equipment while keeping service records. Additionally, you will read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings, overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency, repair and diagnose hydraulics and electrical systems, assemble and align drive trains, and learn the ins and outs of roadway construction and paving.
