About The Position

Haynes Materials is seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in the construction and quarry industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various heavy equipment used in construction and quarry operations, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the construction or quarry industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy machinery.
  • Certifications: Valid trade certification in heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent experience.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts, work in various weather conditions, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to solve complex mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with a wide range of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery manuals.
  • Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with quarry machinery and specialized equipment (e.g., crushers, screens, and conveyors).
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and crushers.
  • Diagnosis: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues and determine the best course of action for repairs.
  • System Overhaul: Disassemble and reassemble machinery components, including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, parts used, and other relevant activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations while working on equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Parts Ordering: Work with the inventory team to order and maintain necessary parts and tools required for repairs and maintenance.
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site mechanical support to address urgent breakdowns or issues that may arise during daily operations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, technicians, and operators to ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.
