About The Position

The Mechanic is responsible for the health and maintenance of all the Company equipment that is in service, to include pickups and all company heavy equipment (i.e., milling machines, reclaimers, skid steers, forklifts vehicles, etc.). The mechanic is responsible for maintaining production, quality and safety standards by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prior Mechanic experience
Experience and excellent knowledge of the repair and maintenance of heavy duty construction equipment; a minimum of 3 years of experience preferred.
Experience with roto-milling and/or related equipment highly preferred.
Ability to work long hours outdoors and will be on their feet all day while either walking or standing.
Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working independently and efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
Reasonable level of computer literacy.
Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record; CDL preferred.
Knowledge of organizational and safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices.
Knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and current OSHA rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather and under various working conditions.
Demonstrated skills in the care and use of hand and power tools employed in all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work.
Able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and backgrounds.
Ability to follow instructions in a verbal and written format.
Ability to use good judgement and foresight.
Ability to speak to others to convey information effectively.
Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season summer months.
Ability to travel to job sites; ability to quickly and effectively diagnose and repair mechanical/maintenance issues.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Above all, ensure that safe practices are followed in all aspects of daily activities.
Read schematics, diagrams, blueprints, etc. to assist with repairs and/or diagnostics.
Diagnose complex electric, hydraulic, and mechanical issues.
Remove, replace, and repair major components of milling machines, skid-steer loaders, street sweepers, heavy and light trucks, etc.
Perform routine maintenance services on heavy equipment.
Perform repairs on-site in the field as needed.
Actively communicate with the Shop Manager, other mechanics, operators, etc. to ensure repair and maintenance services are provided in a timely manner.
Ensure part needs are communicated to Shop Manager to ensure proper inventory levels.
Maintain ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season summer months.
Maintain a safe and efficient workflow in the shop.
Complete special projects as required.
