Overview: We are seeking a skilled and reliable mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy-duty equipment including container handling machines (top loaders, side loaders, reach stackers) and semi tractor-trailers . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting for both on-road and off-road equipment.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience as a container handling equipment mechanic or service technician
  • Hydraulic systems experience required (pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses)
  • Driveline component repair experience (axles, bearings, ring, etc.)
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a safety focused environment
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening.
  • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited.
  • If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
  • Must be able to work 7:00AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday

Nice To Haves

  • Previous crane mechanic experience a plus
  • Familiarity with port or intermodal yard equipment (e.g., Kalmar, Taylor, Hyster).
  • Experience working on Class 8 trucks and trailers.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, assess, and repair container handling equipment and heavy trucks.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on side loaders, hostlers, forklifts, and related machinery
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, motors, filters, and hoses
  • Conduct driveline repairs on components such as axles, bearings, rings, and other related parts
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections
  • Operate safely in a fast-paced, outdoor railyard environment and adhere to all company safety protocols
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient repairs
