About The Position

An Equipment Mechanic performs skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of service trucks, pavers, rollers, skid steers, milling machines, low boys, cement trucks, and related construction equipment, gasoline and diesel-powered.

Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Formal technical training industry certifications highly preferred.
  • Skilled with Transmissions, exhaust systems, fuel systems, drivelines, differentials, hubs other mechanical components
  • Intermediate welding skills
  • Experienced working on skid steer equipment.
  • Advanced skills with Hydraulic systems and hydraulic schematics
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and runs diagnostics on diesel engines and other machinery.
  • Handles basic and routine repairs on heavy machinery such as pavers, millers, rollers, bobcats and other company vehicles and assists with major and complex repairs.
  • Responds to road calls and performs road side and emergency repairs.
  • Maintain and uphold all Safety procedures and protocols set forth by the company.
  • Required to report work ready and able for scheduled shift.
  • May be responsible for opening and/or closing and locking the shop and equipment as needed.
  • Enters information of all work performed in Work Order Tracking Software
  • Responsible for individual designated on-call rotation schedule for weekend jobs only as the business needs.
  • Hours will vary including days, nights, and weekends. Driving in VA, MD, WV, and DC occurs.
  • Participates in the maintenance, cleanliness or organization of the shop.
