About The Position

Bowhead Logistics Management, LLC seeks Heavy Equipment Mechanics for the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA location. Responsibilities The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The mechanic welds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Must possess a strong desire to provide excellent customer service solutions and interact with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. Must be motivated to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-three (1-3) years’ experience in the position applied for (referenced above).
  • Must have a good working knowledgeable of Army regulations; systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and gain access to military installations.
  • The position is on a federal military installation. Candidates/employees will need to drive onto the military installation to gain access to the respective building for their position.
  • Must have general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Securing and maintaining a Common Access card (CAC) is a requirement for all positions at this location.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at Letterkenny Army Depot highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of internet software; spreadsheet software, word processing software and MS Office Suite is a plus.
