About The Position

Tessera is seeking a hardworking and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic with a positive attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Must be knowledgeable in maintenance of military equipment, to include, but not limited to, Up-Armored HMMWVs, and radio communication systems Must be able to accomplish minor/major repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals. Must be able to perform 10 and 20 level annual inspection to include an initial and final road test (minimum of ten miles, 5 pre and 5 post). Must be able to troubleshoot, service, and repair on but not limited to, brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems. Must be familiar with the military's Maintenance Allocation Cart (MAC) and where to find it per vehicle type. Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during scheduled services as they pertain to the mission Maintain required work, time, material, and equipment maintenance records to update equipment service workbook and daily task sheets consistent with current contract requirements. Must be knowledgeable of the regulations on hazardous material, hazardous waste, and the right to know information sheets. Perform major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installing assemblies and installation of components. Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and tools to ensure compliance with established safety procedures. Must exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of daily work. Communicate with customers – always be courteous and communicate in a professional manner when talking with customers. Must be able to perform initial vehicle intake inspections Review parts requests and ensure parts are needed prior to ordering. When the Fleet Manager is away, you will act as a Quality Control Inspector to your fellow Employees, ensuring that the work they completed is done without errors, within the allotted time, and to the standard outlined in the Technical Manual. Review Workbooks, verifying hours to task. Possess knowledge of handling emergency or hazardous waste spills. Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where needed, hard hat, safety glasses, rubber gloves & apron, earplugs, etc. Ensure daily accountability of Tessera Funded Property (SFP). Ensure that at the beginning of each use, all equipment is within its tolerances and safe to use.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of light, medium, and heavy truck experience required.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to use computers and computer software.
  • Must provide personal tools adequate to meet minimum equipment repair requirements.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance company.
  • Candidate must meet federal guidelines to be considered for this position (if the CDL Class A is used for the position) - Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment drug screening, medical examination certification, and cleared query with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is required.
