About The Position

Now hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join the maintenance team for a well-established mill in Ashland. Full-Time/Days; 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Mon-Thurs, and 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Fridays. Wages start at $25.00/hr., with room for qualified candidates to earn higher starting pay. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining a fleet of half-ton trucks and supporting equipment used throughout an industrial lumber operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be comfortable working in fast-paced, outdoor, and industrial settings. Employee must be able to work independently, but also contribute and cooperate well on team-based projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Two or more years of experience working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying weather and industrial conditions.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal mechanical education, training, and/or ASE certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on half-ton trucks and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Clean, lubricate, and service vehicles per manufacturer and company standards.
  • Complete repair work when required and accurately document findings.
  • Support diagnostic efforts and collaborate with other mechanics on complex repairs.
  • Track and report damaged or faulty equipment.
  • Request and/or order replacement parts as needed.
  • Safely drive vehicles to and from various job-site locations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organized work area.
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested.
