The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead will oversee and perform maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds of heavy power equipment in support of U.S. Army Reserve operations. The position combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that all maintenance and repair activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead position is responsible for replacing defective engines and subassemblies such as transmissions, conducting tests to ensure proper operation, and welding broken parts or structural members as needed. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead directs and assists personnel engaged in equipment cleaning, assembly, and disassembly, and may perform specialized repairs and adjustments on mining and construction machinery, including drilling and cutting machines, stripping and loading shovels, and continuous mining systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced mechanical knowledge, leadership ability, and strong attention to detail, ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed safely and meet quality standards. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) is required for this position to meet the scope of contract operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, leadership skills, and experience managing maintenance teams in a military or industrial environment. May be required to work Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible. Performs all other position -related duties and assigned or requested.
