About The Position

The Field Service Technician role is designed for skilled professionals who are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy equipment. This position requires specialized expertise and certifications in heavy equipment maintenance, utilizing industry knowledge to diagnose, repair, and ensure the proper functioning of a variety of equipment.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to Advanced Expertise in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment and diesel engines.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, hoists, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Skilled in rebuilding diesel engines and driveline components.
  • Proficient in repair management software for logging service work.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with other technicians and customers.
  • Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity necessary.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment WorkSTEPS physical.
  • Requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen to the satisfaction of McClung-Logan Equipment Company.
  • This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
  • Must possess a clean MVR & valid Driver's License
  • This job requires the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
  • Requires working and driving outdoors in various climates/temperatures and the possibility of sitting for an extended period

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy construction equipment and diesel engines in the field and shop.
  • Troubleshoot various systems (electrical, engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, etc.) using service manuals and diagnostic tools.
  • Communicate repair issues to customers.
  • Order necessary parts for repairs and track backorders with the parts department.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including fluid checks, inspections, and oil/filter changes.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork, including reports, timecards, and warranty parts documentation.
