Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice
About The Position
Position Objective: To assist and learn basic maintenance to further develop the skills needed to become a Level One Service Technician. Safety: The incumbent recognizes that accident prevention is equal in importance to quality, delivery, and cost control and accepts responsibility for working safely and promoting safety consciousness among fellow employees. Job Responsibilities: Check in and check out rental equipment as needed Review proper startup and shutdown procedures with customers Perform manual tasks such as assisting mechanics by carrying machine parts, tools, and materials to and from job sites; lifting and holding parts; and cleaning work areas Perform cleaning and sweep-up duties in the shop area as assigned Clean and wash equipment and machinery, including scraping paint, grease, and accumulated material from equipment and trucks Perform routine oiling and greasing of maintenance shop equipment Perform proper operation checks and operating procedures for all rental equipment Perform scheduled preventive maintenance for all rental equipment, including installation of filter bags on all air-moving equipment Inspect safety equipment and request necessary repairs Perform installation, registration, and activation of GPS units on rental equipment Prepare new, rental, and stock equipment, including installation of all required accessories Deliver and pick up parts, equipment, and supplies The Way We Work: Work with accountability to seek, create, and execute new and innovative approaches to improve the performance of JDC’s services and objectives Assist external and internal customers by serving their needs and taking responsibility for continuously improving customer service Foster meaningful interaction through the exchange of information to promote understanding Continuously develop and use effective strategies and interpersonal styles to engage and guide others toward accomplishing identified objectives and goals in the best interest of JDC and its customers Consistently work toward the common good of the organization and encourage others to do the same Conduct oneself at all times in a professional and respectful manner Apply proper safety and security practices in accordance with established protocols, guidelines, and policies Requirements: Satisfactory company work record, including attendance Manual dexterity skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently Frequently works with gloves and eye protection Ability to operate manual and power tools Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, including varying weather Ability to perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive motions for extended periods Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to assist with repairing mechanical equipment Other duties as assigned The individual in this position will interact regularly with employees and managers in other departments and locations at Jack Doheny Companies, Inc. Receiving and responding to direction from individuals other than the immediate supervisor will be required periodically.
