About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Sundt Construction Inc. is responsible for safely operating and maintaining a variety of heavy construction equipment. This role emphasizes the importance of preventative maintenance, safety compliance, and fostering positive relationships within the crew. The mechanic will also be involved in training and mentoring others while continuously seeking improvements in work processes.

Requirements

• Minimum of three to six years of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry depending on the level.
• In-depth understanding of the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate various heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, and trucks.
• Perform preventative maintenance and pre-shift inspections on assigned equipment.
• Maintain positive working relationships with crew members.
• Produce high-quality work safely and productively at all times.
• Provide feedback to ensure availability of materials, tools, and information for work.
• Seek opportunities for improvement in tasks and methods.
• Share knowledge and teach others about equipment maintenance and operation.
• Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.
• Eliminate waste in processes such as waiting, rework, and material storage.
