About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Hauler will work closely with Farm Managers to coordinate equipment transportation between ranches and shops throughout the year. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Location(s): Salinas, CA

Requirements

  • Valid Class A license with a Doubles endorsement.
  • Three to five years of experience hauling heavy equipment, preferably in the agriculture industry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Proven experience as a truck driver, particularly in transporting heavy equipment and oversized loads.
  • Familiarity with lowboys, flatbed trailers, and other specialized equipment used in heavy equipment transport.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols for transporting heavy cargo.
  • Physical strength and stamina to load, secure, and unload heavy equipment.
  • Excellent driving skills, including maneuvering large vehicles in various road and weather conditions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel long distances if needed.
  • Availability to work at least six days a week.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Transporting various equipment, including implements, tractors, forklifts, and cargo, to designated locations.
  • Completing all necessary paperwork for equipment in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining constant communication with Managers, Supervisors, and Forepersons.
  • Transporting heavy equipment, machinery, and oversized loads using lowboys and specialized trailers.
  • Conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure the truck and trailer meet all safety regulations.
  • Properly securing cargo with chains, straps, and other tie-down equipment to prevent shifting during transit.
  • Adhering to all traffic laws and regulations while operating company vehicles.
  • Maintaining accurate records of driving activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and cargo details.
  • Coordinating pickup and delivery schedules with dispatchers and team members.
  • Performing routine truck and trailer maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and mechanical components.
  • Following all safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of yourself and others on the road.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading heavy equipment using the appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Supporting other tasks within the Production Department as needed.
  • Operating water trucks, tractors, and forklifts to assist with field operations.
  • Assisting the shop with equipment maintenance as needed.
