About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of heavy equipment operators and labor crews on construction sites. This is a working role with direct machine operation responsibility alongside oversight duties. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards and project specifications. The Foreman serves as the primary field leader, overseeing equipment operations, enforcing safety regulations, and maintaining productivity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • 5+ years of heavy equipment operating experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices and equipment capabilities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate heavy equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors on assigned projects
  • Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members
  • Operate heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, etc.)
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses
  • Monitor equipment usage and ensure proper maintenance and care
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to maintain workflow
  • Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes
  • Ensure work is completed to project specifications and quality standards
  • Track production quantities and report progress to management
  • Identify and resolve job site issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site
