About The Position

Managing Construction Equipment (CAT) Field Technicians in the NYC Metro. Great opportunity for former equipment/diesel engine mechanics, union labor supervisors, etc.

Requirements

Minimum 3+ years’ management experience in directing labor required, union labor highly preferred
Strong customer service experience – ability to problem solve quickly, and communicate updates to clients
Clean and valid driver’s license required
Strong organizational skills and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
Experience with troubleshooting and repair of construction equipment and strong mechanical aptitude required
Strong computer skills and comfortable with technology

Responsibilities

Effectively communicate with all stakeholders on work to be performed, changes required in scope of work, job status, etc.
Assure repairs are completed in a timely fashion by providing accurate job information, parts, tooling, supplies, etc.
Assure repairs are completed in a timely fashion by effectively troubleshooting and diagnosing machine problems with technicians
Maximize technician utilization by effectively scheduling, planning, and assigning work
Review and approve daily time cards to track and monitor technician performance against quoted hours or job standards and manage accordingly
Advise Service Manager of changes in available work vs. staffing levels
Continually review and improve processes
Process jobs to be billed on a daily basis
Conduct weekly safety meetings and ensure monthly safety audits for work area are complete
Ensure timely communication of safety issues to direct supervisor with appropriate paperwork
Ensure all new hires within work area complete safety orientation requirements within thirty days
Ensure all direct reports have completed Pure Safety assignments by due dates
Build and maintain an environment characterized by high productivity and morale
Assist in selecting mechanics
Effectively manage the performance process (goal setting, coaching, appraisal, and rewards/consequence management)
Develop people through training, coaching, etc.
Ensure the fleet is maintained in a clean and uncluttered state
Ensure the fleet and its related equipment are in sound working order & operating safely
Continually assess the appearance, including cleanliness, professionalism, maintenance, and compliance with company policies of your area of responsibility
Take corrective action on any items noted during these ongoing assessments to ensure compliance with company appearance standards
Implement any approved company recommendations for creating a professional appearance and ensuring the accessibility of our facilities
