About The Position

Heavy Equipment operators are responsible for a variety of material-moving equipment daily according to schedule and instructions from Heavy Equipment Coordinator, choosing and setting up the right crane or lift truck for the safe hoisting of equipment and material.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of equipment operation, maintenance, and basic mathematics
  • Skilled in safely operating and maneuvering heavy/mobile equipment in tight or high-traffic areas
  • Ability to monitor gauges/indicators and quickly recognize operational issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills using logic and sound judgment
  • Must obtain and maintain a Class A CDL and required equipment certifications
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, spatial awareness, and control precision
  • Ability to maintain focus for extended periods and work safely in hazardous, variable outdoor conditions with significant physical demands
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, respect, and alignment with company values at all times
  • 1-2 years of Heavy Equipment experience required
  • NCCCO Certification with TLL, TSS designations
  • Commercial Driver’s License – Class A
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • OSHA-10 Certification (or be willing to obtain pre-employment)
  • Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test program
  • Willing to travel
  • Ability to perform elevated work (work on rooftops, heights)
  • Frequently lift and carry 50lbs or greater and frequent bending, kneeling, walking
  • Outdoor environment in all types of weather (8+ hours per day)
  • Overtime and weekend work
  • Ability to Relocate: Kansas City, MO 64108: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance/repairs
  • Operate cranes and heavy equipment safely and efficiently
  • Verify load weights and ensure lifts stay within capacity limits
  • Inspect and maintain cables, lift accessories, and rigging
  • Direct ground crews and truck drivers during loading/unloading
  • Secure and verify cargo prior to transport
  • Maintain clear radio/visual communication on site
  • Complete DOT logs
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support efficient operations.
