About The Position

Transdev in St. Clair, MI is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Heavy Duty Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our diesel-powered assets. Transdev is proud to offer: CBA Position: Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement: $29.39 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale) Benefits include: Vacation: Two (2) weeks after one (1) year of employment Holidays: 10 holidays, 1 floating holiday Paid Sick Leave: 5 sick days; medical, dental & vision after 90 calendar days of employment for full-time employees, life insurance, 401k retirement benefits, and company holidays.

Requirements

  • At least 3 - 5 years of automotive and diesel transit bus or heavy truck maintenance & repair employment experience or a combination of technical school education & experience.
  • Possess a mechanic’s tool set
  • Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Michigan State inspectors license is highly preferred
  • ASE certifications are preferred. Must be willing to participate in the company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided!)

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair including brakes, suspensions, engines, drivetrains, transmissions, and other repairs.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
