About The Position

Finning – The Cat Rental Store is seeking Field experienced Journeypersons Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our industry leading team at the Blackwater Gold Mine on a 7 x 7 Continuous Shift rotation. The Journeyperson Mechanic is responsible for the service tasks for our rental product line.

Requirements

• Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
• Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Good understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Thorough knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine electronic management systems
• Safety conscious team player
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Must possess the technical knowledge to perform service tasks on our product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment (e.g. Mini excavators and skid steers,) aerial work platform equipment as well as knowledge of diesel generators 8 KW to 200 KW
• A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site Access (Drug & Alcohol screening, fitness test)
• You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintenance and repair tasks on product line ranging from construction tools, small engine equipment such as compaction equipment, pumps to compact construction equipment in a field environment
• Interfaces with customers in the field on service calls
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
