About The Position

The Equipment Technician position involves inspecting, adjusting, diagnosing, maintaining, initiating parts requisition, and repairing heavy equipment and/or light duty vehicles. This role requires skills in welding, fabricating, and mounting, along with knowledge and ability in utilizing standard and complex diagnostic tools of the trade. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance services, Department of Transportation brake inspections, and all phases of tire maintenance. The technician will conduct complete inspections on equipment/vehicles, including all attached components to facilitate seasonal rebuilds, and perform I/M emissions tests. Mechanical duties will require the operation and use of a wide variety of hand and power-driven tools and equipment. The technician must ensure the quality and expediency of all work performed and utilize equipment maintenance management software to document work. A safe, clean, and harmonious work environment must be maintained, and other required duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved journeyman mechanic apprenticeship program and four years of automotive, construction equipment, transit bus, and truck maintenance and repair experience.
  • OR high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and five years of automotive, construction equipment, transit bus, and truck maintenance and repair experience.
  • Valid State of Alaska Commercial Driver's License, Class B (CDL-B) or higher, with no air brake restriction at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with heavy equipment and light duty vehicles maintenance.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance management software.

Responsibilities
