Job Summary As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic at McCarthy Tire, you will perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), diagnose mechanical issues, and repair or replace components on heavy-duty trucks and related equipment. Your expertise helps keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently every day.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, CDL is highly preferred.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and DOT physical
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must provide your own tools suitable for heavy-duty vehicle repair

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on heavy-duty diesel trucks and special-purpose vehicles
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Proficient with vehicle diagnostic tools and software
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Industrial equipment maintenance experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while complying with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose and complete moderately complex mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Provide guidance and support to other maintenance personnel as needed
  • Use vehicle diagnostic systems and onboard computer tools to identify faults and initiate repairs
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding additional work or repair timelines
  • Assess and repair structural or mechanical damage using industry best practices
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns through on-site service calls
  • Perform vehicle safety checks and general maintenance tasks as required
