About The Position

The Pipelayer will be responsible for laying and repairing water, storm-water, and sewer pipelines while ensuring that all tasks are performed safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a strong commitment to safety.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of construction procedures, equipment, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address routine issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and warm managerial style.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two (2) years of heavy civil construction experience preferred
  • Must be able to travel if needed
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Must be able to physically lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Set proper grades and elevations, including flowline, grade stick, and string line.
  • Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations using levels or lasers.
  • Connect bell and spigot, sewer, and water pipelines.
  • Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact as necessary.
  • Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations.
  • Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Install and repair water, storm-water, and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields.
  • Lay out pipe routes following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers.
  • Work safely while adhering to Rangeline requirements and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time.
