The Heating, Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic operates, maintains and repairs industrial and residential HVAC equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance repairs, installation, and inspections. Must be able to troubleshoot, identify, and repair. Able to respond to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notification during regular hours or after duty on-call hours.
This role is a temporary full-time onsite role at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Requirements

• Possess valid EPA CFC/HFC Refrigerant Handling Certification.
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC and/or EMCS required, 5+ years preferred.
• Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and manuals in order to accomplish operation of and periodic maintenance on HVAC, EMCS and shop equipment.
• Ability to solder, braze; perform minor electrical work and troubleshoot equipment to a replaceable component level.
• Strong working knowledge of maintenance craft tools.
• Ability to utilize computer automated systems to perform assigned duties.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, heavier items with assistance.
• Able to sit, stand, walk, drive, kneel, squat, bend, crawl, stoop, reach, climb ladders, work in tight spaces.
• Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and components precisely.
• Comfortable working in extreme temperatures.
• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

• Responsible to perform all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible to maintain a safe work environment.
• Knowledgeable in the process of treating air by controlling its temperature, humidity, cleanliness and distribution to specific areas by means of an integrated system of air conditioning and ventilation equipment accessories and control devices.
• Knowledgeable in direct expansion (DX), chilled and heated water systems, including but not limited to chillers up to 800 Ton, boilers, hydronic hot/cold water distribution systems, cooling towers, packaged, split systems, air delivery systems and their controls and components.
• Uses the EMCS equipment and data information to monitor, interpret, analyze, and control the connected systems to minimize abnormal conditions and accomplish maintenance and repair tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
