About The Position

The Heat Treat Operator at Toledo Steel Supply is responsible for operating and maintaining the heat treat furnace through all stages of the heating process. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision. The operator will become a subject matter expert in metal treating, specifically in processes such as normalizing, stress relieving, and annealing. The position is for the 3rd shift, with training initially on the day shift.

Requirements

• Good work ethic, reliable and willing to work.
• Prior experience with heat treat is a plus.
• Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
• Ability to get along with others in the work environment.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior work experience in manufacturing and material handling.

Responsibilities

• Run, operate, and monitor the heat treat furnace through all stages of the process.
• Separate parts to be loaded into the furnace.
• Follow specific work instructions to complete daily work assignments in a timely manner.
• Operate overhead crane to move parts to the furnace.
• Read computer controls, such as carbon controller, at periodic intervals to ensure specified temperatures and soaking plus cooling times are maintained.
• Maintain and clean department daily.
• Perform duties in a safe and productive manner.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
• Other duties assigned.
