About The Position

Under the general supervision of department supervisor and/or technical expert performs a variety of heat treat functions on parts made of various alloys to promote change of physical properties on various metals for toughness and strength. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of heat treat functions involving typical operation of the austempering, hardening, tempering, processes according to blueprints, specifications, and/or special instructions. Checks salt bath levels and makes additions when needed, verifies belt speeds and conditions Sets and monitors furnace temperatures, atmospheres and dew point. Performs weekly SAT test per AMS 2750. Operates Shop Floor System and records MO information. Weighs parts to produce part counts. May perform applicable quality control in-process inspections, hardness and surface contamination tests on products, per specifications. May perform some “General Operator I” duties as necessary. Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties. Attends all required job related training (internal and external). All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and MDK Procedures. All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all MDK procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times. All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately. Continually seek opportunities to improve our MDK performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results. Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • basic knowledge of mainframe computers and an understanding of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Has the ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers And the ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Has the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR.

  • Compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
  • Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact
