Requirements

  • Leadership qualities, organizational skills, and good judgement abilities
  • This position requires a graduation from an accredited school for Practical Nursing or its equivalent and hold a current license in the State of Nebraska.
  • This position requires certification in BLS.
  • Must provide care for and develop rapport with aged residents and demonstrate a genuine interest in nursing and a desire to attend the frail elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to residents including but not limited to the administration of medications and treatments, collecting information, reporting and documenting that information within an LPN scope of practice.
  • Monitor and identify changes in conditions of residents with respect to medical condition, physical symptoms, behaviors, psycho-social needs, and moods.
  • Initiate these conversations with Nurse Coordinators, House Supervisor, Physicians, and families/responsible parties.
  • Provide supervision of nursing staff as assigned.
  • Lead by example, provide education/direction, and monitoring of Medication Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, Dining Assistants.
  • Accept responsibility for supervising, directing and monitoring Medication Aides in their Med Aide responsibilities.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences to supervisor.
  • Document as appropriate.
  • Document and communicate professionally, thoroughly, timely, precisely and appropriately.
  • Notify appropriate parties as indicated.
  • Be a Team Leader.
  • Serve as a liaison with Activity Director, Social Work, Dietary, Therapy, Environmental Services and other departments.
  • Problem solve and address residents' concerns for quality-of-life issues, especially in the absence of the Nurse Coordinators.
