About The Position

The Hearing Officer is responsible for conducting disciplinary hearings within the Department of Finance and Administration in Arkansas. This role involves investigating disciplinary appeals, interviewing complainants, and making judgments based on findings. The position requires adherence to state and federal laws, as well as agency policies, to ensure fair and effective hearing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of disciplinary hearing processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of investigative practices and procedures.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply due process policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to evaluate information and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates disciplinary appeals and interviews complainants.
  • Conducts disciplinary hearings and determines judgment based on findings.
  • Maintains grievance files and prepares appeals for hearing.
  • Provides training on disciplinary hearing procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
