Healthy Families—a free, voluntary program—works closely with parents of newborns through a series of home visits. Families are enrolled before the babies are 3 months old. The goals of Healthy Families are to promote positive parent-child relationships, to support healthy childhood growth and development, and to enhance family functioning by teaching parents to identify strengths and utilize problem-solving skills to improve the family support system through linkages and referrals to available community services. We provide information on child development and infant care, free screenings to make sure each baby is healthy, and connections to supportive services in their community. We are currently looking for a Bilingual Spanish Family Support Specialist to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy childhood growth and development, and enhance family functioning for families with newborns in Multnomah County through home visiting.
