About The Position

The Healthcare Provider and Professional Rescuers Instructor Residency Program at ProACT Critical Care Academy offers a robust, hands-on teaching experience tailored to instructors aiming to train healthcare professionals and emergency responders. This program enables residents to build confidence in teaching advanced CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques to healthcare providers and professional rescuers, using ProACT's facilities and equipment. Program Objectives Gain proficiency in teaching professional-level emergency preparedness courses designed for healthcare providers and emergency responders. Develop a deep understanding of American Red Cross course content and professional-level training methodologies. Learn to tailor instruction to the needs of healthcare professionals, first responders, and high-stakes environments. Strengthen leadership, communication, and critical decision-making skills. Contribute to the mission of improving patient outcomes and enhancing community safety.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Hold current certification as an American Red Cross Instructor in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers, Lifeguarding, or Basic Life Support (or obtain certification prior to the residency start).
  • Demonstrate a passion for teaching and improving emergency response capabilities.
  • Be available to teach six classes over the eight-month duration.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Commit to the full eight-month residency program.
  • A completed application form.
  • A current resume detailing relevant teaching or professional experience.
  • A personal statement (500 words max) explaining their interest in the residency and their goals as an instructor.
  • Proof of current instructor certification or intent to complete certification prior to the start date.
  • Contact information for two professional references.

  • Manage class logistics, deliver instruction, and evaluate participants' skills.
  • Participate in a personalized evaluation session to discuss achievements and areas for growth.
  • Create a professional development plan for continued improvement as an instructor.
  • Uphold ProACT's standards and the American Red Cross's guidelines for professional instruction.
  • Be prepared and adaptable to meet the unique needs of healthcare learners.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in all aspects of the program.
