About us: Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We are seeking a new Dining Associate to join our team. We are hiring for a Full-Time position, and depending upon your availability you have the option of: 6am-230pm or 11am-730pm, 40 hours per week, and every other weekend/holiday. Job Summary: Provide leadership and oversight for the dietary aides in Anthony House. Assist managers in providing oversight of work and coordination of day-to-day activities. Perform dietary aide duties by assisting in food preparation, appropriate serving of food, set-up and clean-up of Anthony House. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of Anthony dining areas and kitchenettes.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of dining services experience is preferred.
  • Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Math: Must be able to complete tasks using basic mathematical skills.
  • Other: Able to work evenings, holidays and weekends as scheduled.
  • Capable of and willing to follow written and oral directions.
  • Capable of interacting politely with staff and residents regardless of the circumstances.
  • Complete all tasks of the position worked in a timely manner.
  • Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more (with assistance when needed). This position requires the completion of mostly non-sedentary work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for Dining Associates-Healthcare and coordinating the daily work in Anthony House.
  • Implement and lead Anthony Specific Team Meetings: including admissions/discharges/room changes, new diet orders, resident requests, and kitchen reminders.
  • Meet with new admissions to collect, document and communicate food preferences.
  • Ensure that temperature logs are completed are within normal limits.
  • Ensure proper serving utensils are being utilized at service to comply with nutrition standards.
  • Ensure that spreadsheet extensions are available on serving line and are being provided to correct residents.
  • Provide orientation and training to employees on Anthony-specific diet textures, adaptive equipment, and International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI) standards.
  • Complete Dining Audits (may include Meal Evaluation, Quick Pulses and Meal Accuracy) to ensure operational excellence.
  • Assist in completing accurate check out duties of staff after shift to ensure all is complete.
  • Effectively communicate with management any concerns or feedback on how to run the operations more efficiently and effectively for the department.
  • Read, understand, follow, and verbally communicate menus, diet orders, and diet extensions.
  • Work designated position assigned on the schedule.
  • Follow prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines: chooses proper utensils and sets steam line to appropriate temperature for menu items.
  • Serve meals using standards to ensure proper temperature and quality.
  • Follow diet orders and menu extensions for residents with modified diets.
  • Operate dish machine and other equipment within the kitchenette.
  • Set up and break down Anthony House dining rooms for service and assist residents as needed.
  • Monitor all snack programs in Anthony House and Darlington House.
  • Maintain clean work areas, including floors, utensils, and equipment.
  • Collect and deposit garbage and compost in designated containers.
  • Prepare, present and store product using Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards.
  • Provide quality service in a timely manner, consistent with others in the same position.
  • Utilize extra time to find tasks on own without needed direction from management.
  • Work assigned shifts that are outside of traditional duties on occasion.
