About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The East Alabama Medical Center Interpreter will facilitate communication for limited English proficient (LEP) patients, and family members that serve them in a variety of settings to include medical, educational, financial, insurance, etc. This is an on-call Position, flexibility is required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of conversation/translation competency testing in secondary language
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Experience in healthcare or medical interpretation
- Strong teaching or training background
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities.
- Score High Intermediate on Language Proficiency test prior to interpreting
Nice To Haves
- 3-5 years healthcare experience
- Certification in medical interpretation (e.g., CMI or CHI).
- Experience with scheduling software or workforce management tools.
- Knowledge of cultural competency practices in healthcare.
