Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Interior Design / Interior Architecture program.
  • National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
  • 2+ years of experience in Healthcare Interior Design.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
  • If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Responsibilities

  • The position primarily performs Interior Design Program Support.
  • Alternately performs In-House Design and aspects of Requirements Development.
  • Expect 2,000 annual hours Interior Design Program Support – Tasks are consistent with the 1008 Federal Job Series.
  • More specifically, tasks comprise the non-inherently government work efforts identified in the EPS Interior Design Program Guide.
  • VHA Directive 1608, Comprehensive Environment of Care, defines the primary work assignments of Interior Design support.
  • Review of transmittals, oversight of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E), VA Directive 7531 tasks (artwork and decorative furnishings), Procurement and Logistics support, and EOC Deficiency tracking inform the full scope of Interior Design Program Support Expectations.
  • In-House Design – Capabilities related to drafting, development of notes, and minor specifications revisions necessary to produce a requirement in sufficient detail to inform work requirements and restrictions as well as quantitative material requirements.
  • Work will be actioned by VA staff, and hence coordination on design efforts will be extensive.
  • Software requirements will include Autodesk applications.
  • Requirements Development – This performance will require data collection, including the retrieval of historical documentation, physical verification of existing conditions, review and response to Requests for Information (RFIs), Building Service Equipment (BSE) specifications, and Cost Estimating via RS Means or similar.
  • It does not include capital planning actions such as creation of entries in the Strategic Capital Investment Plan (SCIP) or use of the Space and Equipment Planning System (SEPS).
