Healthcare Engineer
About The Position
The position serves as a Construction Safety Engineer for the Medical Center. The position supports the Occupational Safety and Health Program and works closely with other members of the Safety and Emergency Management Service to leverage organizational resources to produce products and services to support the medical facility program initiatives and goals. The Construction Safety Healthcare Engineer position performs specialized and technical duties related to construction/renovation /demolition activities and safety issues affecting any business operation within the medical facility as demonstrated by the following major responsibilities:

Responsibilities
- Provides Technical Direction and Oversight for the Construction Safety Program.
- Reviews Engineering Plans and Specifications for New Construction.
- Provides Technical Assistance and Guidance/ Management of Construction Site Safety.
- Conducts evaluations and inspections at construction project sites throughout the Healthcare System.
- Documents compliance and inspection reports and prepares regular and reoccurring program performance reports.
- Maintains an electronic database of all safety and health related submittals and status of approved projects.
- Must have specialized expertise with environmental remediation, asbestos, lead, and microbial issues on construction job sites.
- Provides consultation technical assistance to Contracting Officers, Contracting Officer Representatives, Engineering Shop Staff and Engineering Construction crew members, engaged in any proposed renovation, demolition or construction related activities.
- Serves as the principal advisor to medical facility for justifying operational procedures, interpreting new legislation and/or federal regulations, and recommending the adoption or implementation of specific policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
