About The Position

The Healthcare Data Scientist (HDS) conducts advanced data analytic functions for the health center. This position processes large amounts of data from various data sources to find patterns that will help determine project efficacy and analyze patient health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics or similar discipline.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in the data analytics space.
  • Strong database development and programming skills with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database management systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan and carry out data analysis projects.
  • Basic skills in healthcare clinic operations and medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in problem solving, data analysis and interpretation, and customer relations.
  • High degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out-of-town.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, safe driving record and insurance coverage required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regression, classification, clustering and/or dimensionality reduction highly preferred.
  • Experience with clinical reporting and analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build complex datasets from multiple data sources using SQL.
  • Take ownership of analytic projects.
  • Preprocess structured and unstructured data.
  • Analyze large amounts of information to uncover insights.
  • Build, maintain and regularly tune models for improved performance using machine-learning algorithms or advanced statistics.
  • Summarize and present results to clinical management.
  • Support internal and external reporting needs of the organization.
  • Collaborate with Senior Data Analyst to automate data ingestion and support ETL processes.
  • Enhance and maintain existing reports and systems.
  • Prepare project documentation.
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
