We operate 18 clinics in Santa Cruz County and feature more than 70 providers with specialties including pediatrics, oncology and hematology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, urology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and urgent care. Santa Cruz County is 70 miles south of San Francisco and boasts great surf, sandy beaches, redwood-covered mountains, and more.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Keyboarding skills and the ability to utilize computer equipment and software.
  • Experience with standard office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist performing similar duties preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume customer service role in another industry/environment working with referrals or scheduling surgeries.
  • Six (6) months experience as a Medical Office Receptionist within Dignity Health Medical Foundation.
  • Familiarity with an electronic practice management system.
  • Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of customer service contact for patients, physicians, clinic staff, laboratory and imaging staff, hospital staff, family members, and vendors.
  • Provide customer service communications and appropriate distribution of phone calls and messages.
  • Collect and update demographics and insurance information.
  • Verify health plan eligibility.
  • Take complete and accurate messages.
  • Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times utilizing an electronic practice management system.
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed to support daily clinic operation goals, benchmarks, and quality patient care initiatives.
