About The Position

The Health and Wellness Patient Access Coordinator is ARUP Health and Wellness department’s first line of communication and coordination with patients, employees and visitors. This individual is responsible for providing a positive, helpful, service-oriented approach during all interactions. Triages phone calls and in-person requests, schedules appointments, and manages EHR lists and templates for the department. Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients, employees and visitors
  • Triages incoming phone calls and electronic health record (EHR) messages to appropriately meet patient needs.
  • Schedules appointments with providers, medical assistants, nurses and laboratory as needed.
  • Manages Health and Wellness employee daily schedules, responding to changes and workload.
  • Proficient with departmental EHR beyond patient scheduling. This includes but is not limited to managing hospital account registration and patient work que lists, missing registration reports, MyChart utilization/ verification, daily appointment reports and patient lists.
  • Creates EHR templates for providers, nurses and laboratory
  • Creates new employee and patient charts, communicates with supervisors regarding occupational health requirements for employees, manages new employee check-in and follow-up appointments
  • Manages internal and external medical record requests
  • Liaison between Health and Wellness and Safety department for workplace injury appointment coordination and medical record acquisition
  • Maintains lobby and front desk cleanliness and organization and ensures patients are assisted in a timely manner
  • Performs other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
